Week 2 For Rising 9th Grade Girls
Each Project ENGAGE program week focuses on a theme, which demonstrates how engineering contributes to positive societal changes. The theme for our rising 9th grade girls is “Biomedical Engineering: Bridging the Technology-Medicine Gap”. During the week the girls will be exposed to a variety of biomedical engineering principles. In the past, activities for this week have included: learning about bone strength and joint replacement, nanotechnology and how nanotechnology is used in fighting disease, prosthetics and medical diagnostics. The activities, lessons, laboratories and field trips during the week feed into the participants’ final team project. Participants will live on campus and eat at the dining hall with peers who are also interested in math, science and with making a positive impact on the health field.
